Radiohead – The National Anthem (Live on Jools Holland in 2001)

Radiohead’s album Kid A turned 15 this past week. “The National Anthem” is the third song on the record and one of the most popular Radiohead songs since its release in 2000. Here’s the the band performing the song on Later… With Jools Holland in 2001. The bass line is what makes the song, and apparently Thom Yorke wrote it when he was 16. That’s pretty impressive – holding onto that bass line for so many years, and then one day making an incredibly successful pop song out of it. A crazy, free jazz and electronica influenced pop song.
