Neil Young – From Hank To Hendrix (Acoustic at the Bridge School Benefit in 1998)
I had a chance to see Neil Young last night at DTE Energy Music Theater – the venue formerly known as Pine Knob. Still known as Pine Knob to long time patrons like myself – and Neil, who gave it a shout out at the end of the night. It was an outstanding show. Neil and The Promise Of The Real showcased tunes from their new record The Monsanto Years, and played cuts from across Neil’s catalog. We heard a “Words”, “Cowgirl In The Sand”, and for the encore, “Don’t Be Denied” and “Roll Another Number”. It couldn’t have been a better show.
They also played “From Hank To Hendrix”, and it reminded me what a great song it is. Neil’s output in the 90s was still very strong. So I searched the Tubes for a good “From Hank To Hendrix”, and found about a half dozen worth watching. I like this acoustic version from The Bridge School Benefit in 1998. Neil’s sporting a beard!
