Willie Dixon – Weak Brain, Narrow Mind (live and acoustic)

Willie Dixon was born 100 years ago today. He helped create the Chicago Blues sound, and he was a prolific songwriter. “Spoonful”, “I Can’t Quit You Baby”, “Back Door Man”, and more are Dixon originals. Led Zeppelin, Cream, and others covered (or stole) his work. Dixon was one of the proto-rock pioneers. Without Willie Dixon, there would be no rock and roll.

This is Dixon, solo and acoustic, playing his song “Weak Brain, Narrow Mind”. It’s not prototypical rock and roll; instead, it’s a classic country blues tune. Dixon was a versatile writer. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

And here’s a bonus track: Willie Dixon and band doing “Nervous” on TV in 1962.
