Bob Dylan & The Grateful Dead – Slow Train (Live in 1987)

Slow Train Coming has been one of my favorite Dylan albums since the first time I heard it. Recorded at Muscle Shoals and produced by Jerry Wexler, it’s got a swampy R&B sound to it. Mark Knopfler plays guitar. It’s the only album from his evangelical Christian era that excites me. It’s got “Gotta Serve Somebody”, “Do Right to Me Baby”, and of course, “Slow Train”.

I was thinking about this album the other day, and “Slow Train” in particular, so I thought I’d check and see what the YouTubes had to say on the subject. No Dylan solo versions, but lo and behold, Dylan & The Dead, from an old school audience recording. This ain’t no iPhone!
