Bob Marley & The Wailers – Concrete Jungle (Live on The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1973)

“Concrete Jungle” has this great, danceable reggae beat to it, but lyrically, it’s as brutal as its title. Just read the first verse:

“No sun will shine in my day today / The high yellow moon won’t come out to play / I said darkness has covered my light / And has changed my day into night, yeah / Where is the love to be found? / Won’t someone tell me? / Cause life (sweet life) / Must be somewhere to be found”

Like I said, pretty brutal. But such a beautiful melody.

Here’s the band playing “Concrete Jungle” on The Old Grey Whistle Test back in 1973. A great stripped down version.
