B.B. King – Hummingbird (Live on Letterman in 1983)

B.B. King appeared on Late Night With David Letterman on Nov 17, 1983. He played a couple of songs, including this version of “Hummingbird”. “Hummingbird” is from his 1970 album Indianola Mississippi Seeds. It’s a Leon Russell song, and was one of the hit singles off the record.

So back in 1983 – the second year Letterman was on the air – Letterman got King to come on and play a few songs. This version of “Hummingbird” is tight. Paul Shaffer and the band were a rock solid backing band from the beginning.
