Randy Newman – I Love L.A. (music video)

I was listening to NPR on the way into work today. A music critic – Holly Gleason, I think – was talking about the music different bands listen to backstage at shows. One of the examples was Grace Potter & The Nocturnals blasting Randy Newman backstage. “I Love L.A.” was the sample song.

“I Love L.A.”, of course, is another brilliant satirical song from Newman, one of our greatest writers of social satire put to music. You can’t argue with lines like this:

“Look at that mountain! Look at those trees! / Look at that bum over there, man, he’s on his knees! / Look at these women! Ain’t nuthin’ like them nowhere.”

So take a few minutes and enjoy a little Randy Newman – “I Love L.A.”, from his 1983 record Trouble in Paradise. It’ll do you good.
